Chisinau, 11 April /MOLDPRES/ - The works of restoring the road segments included in the programme Good Roads for Moldova 2 will be carried out by native companies. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici has made statements to this effect in an interview given exclusively to MOLDPRES.
Chiril Gaburici said that 2,600 km of road were to be modernized in 2019 and 2.7 billion lei had been allocated from the state budget and the road fund to this end.
According to Gaburici, the Good Roads programme is important and must be continued, no matter what happens, as investments in infrastructure give an impetus to Moldova’s economic development.
The minister said that he wants local enterprises to be able to participate also in tenders for works on roads’ restoration, financed from external sources. “For me, it was important to see our native companies directly got involved in contracts with big banks from outside Moldova. So far, foreign companies have been winning and signing contracts with local companies and the works were anyway carried out by local companies,” Chiril Gaburici said.
Last year, about 1,600 km of roads were rehabilitated in 1,200 settlements. The overall sum of investments amounted to more than 1.9 billion lei.
