Number of detainees down by 50 per cent in 2018

Chisinau, 13 April /MOLDPRES/- The number of detainees decreased by 50 percent in 2018 compared to 2017. The data were presented by the head of the General Police Inspectorate, Alexandru Panzari.

"If in the past were detained around 4,000 people a year, today their number is around 2,000. This result is achieved due to the proactive attitude of the Police and prevention activities carried out throughout the country", he said.

Panzari also said that besides the decrease in the number of people detained, the crime rate decreased by almost 10% last year.

Panzari informed that law enforcement officials will strengthen their actions and continue to aim to prevent repeat offenses by people in conflict with the law. For this, the IGP and the National Probation Inspectorate signed a cooperation agreement.
