Chisinau, 16 April /MOLDPRES/- The dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol needs to be stepped up for the benefit of the citizens and it takes small, concrete steps to build confidence, in order to maintain positive dynamics in the Transnistrian settlement process. OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák made the statement today.
Due to the commitment, leadership and political will of both sides, last year five agreements have been implemented that bring concrete benefits to people, such as the agreement on neutral registration plates or Latin script schools. "This gave new impetus to the Transnistrian settlement process. To maintain this dynamic, Chisinau and Tiraspol must now boost the dialogue, strive to complete the "Berlin plus package" and identify new areas of joint work,” he said.
He added that OSCE looks forward to the rapid formation of a stable government in Chisinau, ready to involve constructively in the Transnistrian settlement process at all levels.
Slovakia has taken over the OSCE rotating presidency since 1 January. According to a press release by OSCE Mission to Chisinau, Miroslav Lajčák, as acting chairman of the organization “will focus on advancing the Transnistrian settlement process within the parameters agreed at the meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan in December 2018.
