Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/- The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) will intensify controls on the import of potatoes from the Republic of Belarus. An order in this regard was signed yesterday by the head of the institution, Ion Sula.
The decision was taken after last week ANSA inspectors detained a batch of potatoes of over 21 tons imported from Belarus in which Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. Sepedonicus has been found.
As a result, the ANSA head ordered that the specialists of the institution monitor all potato imports with sampling and laboratory tests at Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. Sepedonicus.
According to the order, the lots from which the samples will be taken will be detained at the border inspection post until the results of laboratory tests are received. In the case of positive results, the consignment is to be returned.
