Moldovan foreign minister meets with ambassador of Korea

Chisinau, 17 April /MOLDPRES/ – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, has discussed with the Ambassador of Korea in Moldova, residing at Kiev, Lee Yang – Goo, the current state of Moldovan – Korean relations, possibilities of extending and deepening them in new areas, as well as other issues of mutual interest, on the occasion of the end of his mandate as head of mission, the MAEIE’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.

During the meeting, Tudor Ulianovschi and Lee Yang – Goo had an exchange of views on existing situation of bilateral relations, agreeing on the need to intensify the dynamics of bilateral political dialogue at a high level, development of trade and economic cooperation and extension of cooperation in cultural and humanitarian fields. The head of Moldovan diplomacy appreciated the work of Ambassador Lee Yang – Goo during his term of office, "which was aimed at deepening and strengthening the good friendship relations between the two states, as well as exploiting potential of Moldovan – Korean cooperation."

In this context, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi expressed gratitude for technical and financial assistance provided to Moldova in several projects financed through the Korean Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA), including the reconstruction of sports hall of the Centre for Excellence in Viticulture and Wine Making in Chisinau, and renovation of clinic in Poganesti.

The interlocutors also discussed a number of projects to be developed in perspectives, especially aimed at attracting Korean investments in various socio – economic and cultural areas of Moldova, capitalising on potential of Moldovan exports to Korea, etc. In the context, the Seoul diplomat said that the Korean side, through Smart Farming technology, can assist Moldovan farmers in creating a functional system for assessing climatic conditions, analising the environmental impact on agriculture, livestock, etc.

Ambassador Lee Yang – Goo said that the authorities in Seoul are interested in developing political dialogue, commercial, economic, cultural, educational relations with Moldova and want to come up with new projects in Moldova.
