Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ – The Moldovan agricultural producers still have almost 1,000 tonnes of grapes in refrigerators. Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM), Nicolae Ciubuc, said the stocks could be exhausted until Easter.

The data were presented after Nicolae Ciubuc requested an analysis of the situation regarding the stocks of table grapes kept in refrigerators of Moldova. "After analising the situation, it was found out that there were exported about 18,900 tonnes of grapes in 1st quarter of 2019. The main destinations for grape exports were the member countries of the EU and CIS. The price of grapes trading on foreign markets was in the average of about $0.5. About 100 tonnes were sold on domestic market," said the Minister of MADRM at an operative meeting with the institution's employees.

The largest volumes of storage grapes are in districts: Nisporeni, Ialoveni, Cahul and Straseni. Some of the grapes were also delivered to the processing for wine production. Thus, four wineries in Cahul, Calarasi, Nisporeni and Gagauzia agreed to process about 1,200 tonnes of grapes.
