Chisinau, 18 April /MOLDPRES/ – There were installed smart traffic lights in 21 street crossings in Chisinau municipality. The modernised system of their management has been presented today.
The road traffic fluidisation targets at the 21 city street crossings are LED – based, GSM/3G-directed, equipped with data collection devices so as to ensure adaptive rush – hours or accidents traffic management.
Present at the event, acting mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, has said the new system will allow online viewing of intersections where there are created traffic jams, as well as possible traffic light failures. "In less than a second, all info appears here on the screen. The new traffic lights "see" traffic throughout sensors and automate the flow of traffic, signal dispatching when there are technical deficiencies, are more visible and receptive to orders than the old traffic lights of 1973," said Ruslan Codreanu.
The Mayor added that the authorities planned that by the end of 2020 all traffic lights in the capital would be upgraded.
At present, out of the 182 traffic lights in the city, 115 are routed via GSM/3G. For modernisation of traffic lights in the capital, it has been allocated an amount of MDL 2 million from the municipal budget in 2019.
