Chisinau, 21 April /MOLDPRES/ – The Orthodox Christians celebrate Palm Sunday today. The feast commemorates an event mentioned in all four gospels – entrance of Jesus to Jerusalem in the days before the Passions.
According to the priests, the entrance of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem is the only moment in his earthly life when He accepted to be acclaimed as emperor. Palm Sunday is preceded by Saturday of Lazarus, when the church commemorates the wonderful resurrection Lazarus, and triumphal reception made to Jesus in Jerusalem was determined by this precursor miracle.
Palm Sunday is a Christian holiday with no exact date, always marked on the last Sunday before Easter. On this day, there are sanctified by prayer and sprinkling with holy water the dyed branches of willow, as a symbol of the victory of life on death. The willow buds recall the finer and olive branches that the Saviour had encountered.
The Flowers are appreciated by all those who have flower names or closely related to it: Camelia, Viorica, Viorel, Violeta, Florica, Florina, Violeta, Viorel, Florin, Florentina, Lilia, Gheorghina, Crina, Calin, Narcisa, Lacramioara, Laura, Laurentiu, Margareta, Codrut etc.
Palm Sunday symbolises the desire of everyone to have a life as light, beautiful as flowers.
