Moldovan electoral body calls on political party to pay 76,000 lei to state budget

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/- The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today called on the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) to pay 76,000 lei to the state budget after the party violated the legislation on electoral campaign financing.
Under the CEC decision, in 2016 a joint venture paid 100,000 lei to the PAS account. According to the legal provisions, it is forbidden to finance, provide free of charge services or to support political parties in any form, direct and / or indirect by legal entities with foreign or mixed capital.
Previously the party has been committed to transfer in stages the donation amounting to 100,000 lei, making up to 19 April 2019, eight instalments worth 24 thousand lei. Thus, PAS has been ordered to pay 76,000 lei to the state budget within six months of CEC decision with the right to payment of this amount in stages.
Also today, the CEC found failure of reports on the financial management for 2018 by the Russian-Slavic Party of Moldova and the Political Party Renaştere, as well as the failure to present within the deadline by the political party Our Home – Moldova and the Socialist Party of Moldova.
