Economics minister says IT sector strategic for Moldova

Chisinau, 23 April /MOLDPRES/ - The IT sector is strategic for Moldova and the IT industry from Moldova is quite competitive and generates high value added. Economics and Infrastructure Minister Chiril Gaburici today made statements to this effect while unveiling a study titled, IT Players from Moldova - Prepared for Presence Worldwide, which shows an analysis of the native IT industry and market.   

According to Gaburici, in 2018, the IT services market amounted to 154 million dollars and an increase estimated at 262 million dollars is expected till 2024.  

Under the study, the Moldovan IT companies contribute to the development of a wide range of American and EU domestic products in various fields, such as FinTech, automotive and telecommunications.

A representative of an international company which carried out the study, Razvan Savu, said that, as the IT market of Moldova was becoming more and more stable, its competitive features are highlighted in relation with the IT markets of the region or even internationally. “The working experience in cultures from all continents, concern for the quality of services and emphasis put on the employee’s working environment represent strategic advantages which companies choosing to start or extend their cooperation in Moldova can benefit from,” Savu noted.  

Also, the study’s authors carried out a comprehensive assessment of the potential human capital available in the IT sector, its qualifications, education system, associate sector, modern business infrastructure.
