Chisinau, 26 April /MOLDPRES/- In 10 years of Eastern Partnership, Moldova is much more connected to the European Union, and most appreciated decision taken within this structure is visa free regime. Executive Director of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms Iulian Groza made the statement in an exclusive interview for AIS MOLDPRES.
When the Eastern Partnership was launched, Moldova was going through a transitional period, and this European structure provided our country with the necessary framework for change and advancing relations with the EU.
"After 10 years, we can list more outstanding results, including the EU-Moldova Association Agreement, the Free Trade Agreement and the liberalization of the visa regime. After 10 years, Moldova is much more connected to the EU, including economically. Over the past year, nearly 70 percent of exports were to EU space,” he said.
He noted that most appreciated decision taken during this period was the visa free regime. "In 5 years, nearly two million citizens, half of the country's population, have traveled to the EU. The most advantaged were young people who had access to various study programs, as well as agricultural producers and businessmen who have expanded their markets for goods, "Groza said.
In the next period, our country has to overcome the political crisis and move through the declarations phase, requiring more action.
