Moldovan PM says EU approach to be achieved not through statements but by daily concrete facts

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, has participated at inauguration of European Town 2019 today, organised by the EU Delegation in Chisinau, on occasion of Europe Day, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
In his event speech, PM has specified that Europe is not about geopolitics but about people. It is a model of development based on democracy, freedom and understanding. "Europe is not just a destination, Europe is a road. We want to join EU, this is our destination. Getting closer to EU is not through statements, banners and vouvousas. The approximation of EU is done by daily concrete facts," said Pavel Filip.
Also, Premier has outlined that we need to think and act in the style of European values. And Europe condemns today all those who pronounce themselves for destruction, liquidation, annihilation. Europe is building democracy, freedom and understanding. And this is what politicians need to understand. "Let us become Europeans through thinking and action, not through statements. Being European means doing our job with dedication, acting responsibly and being more tolerant and better. Let us get together and build Europe here, at home, in Moldova," concluded Pavel Filip.
At his turn, head of EU Delegation to Moldova, Peter Michalko, has said that the relationship of EU and Moldova remains a close one. Among the main advances in recent years, diplomat highlighted economic reforms, implementation of the Free Trade Agreement, increased exports to the EU market and financial system stabilisation. Similarly, the European official encouraged the authorities to continue their efforts to reform the justice system, fight corruption, strengthen the rule of law.
Finally, PM Pavel Filip and Chief of EU Delegation in Chisinau, Peter Michalko, have visited the tents of embassies of EU member states and Government institutions, where it was presented info on European projects implemented in Moldova.
The European town will be open to the public garden of Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Chisinau on 11 – 12 May. The visitors will have the opportunity to know the culture and cuisine, listen to music and watch movies of European countries.
