Moldovan parliament announces candidates who accumulated highest score in contest for constitutional court judges

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Parliament has announced on Friday, 26 July, that Nicolae Esanu and Vladimir Grosu are the candidates who have accumulated the highest score in the contest for the position of judges of the Constitutional Court (CC).
The minutes of the Commission of legal issues, appointments and immunities, which reflect the running of the contest, including the average of the total score awarded to each candidate, will be submitted to the Parliament of Moldova, which is to make the final decision.
The contest for selection of 02 candidates for positions of CC's judges from the Parliament was announced at the beginning of July 2019. There were enrolled 23 candidates in competition, and there were admitted only 16 ones.
Nicolae Esanu is 52 years old and he is a state secretary at the Ministry of Justice (MJ). Previously, he served as deputy Minister MJ. Nicolae Esanu is also a member of the Venice Commission (CV).
Vladimir Grosu is 44 years old and he has previously served as Minister of Justice. Also, in 2006 – 2011, Vladimir Grosu was representative of the Government of Moldova (GM) at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
