Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ – The ex – head of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM), Vlad Plahotniuc, has given up his mandate of MP. The announcement has been made on Tuesday, 30 July.

"In existing situation, where the mandate of MP is no longer worth much, I can not fulfill the liabilities to the electorate of Nisporeni, the ones which made my mandate most representative in the current Parliament, by the number of votes. It should not be fair to them to occupy this place as long as I cannot fulfill my mandate received from them, for reasons that do not depend on me”, wrote Vlad Plahotniuc on his official page on a social network.

Vlad Plahotniuc has added that he does not need parliamentary immunity. "I know that the law institutions are politically pressured to deprive me of immunity, they have no legal reason for such an action, but they will be forced by abuses to do so. By renouncing immunity, with the resignation of the position of MP, I want to stop these abuses and political pressures on the institutions of law”, said the source.

Vlad Plahotniuc became a member of Parliament following the Parliamentary elections on 24 February 2019, in the uninominal constituency Nisporeni.
