Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/- The moratorium on granting Moldovan citizenship in exchange for investments entered into force on today with the publication in the Official Journal of the law on its establishment and the presidential decree on its promulgation.

Under the law, the moratorium was set up for a period of four months. During this time, it will be suspended to receive new applications for acquiring the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova through investment. At the same time, the moratorium could be extended for up to two months.

The applications on Moldovan citizenship through investment that have been submitted so far will be processed further. The program was officially launched in November last year. Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Vadim Brînzan has previously stated that our country will have to pay damages, if it decides to terminate the contract on implementation of this program.
