National Prize Gala held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ – Ten prominent personalities from Moldova have received the National Prize 2019. Its award ceremony has taken place on Monday, 26 August, at the Palace of the Republic and it was dedicated to 28th anniversary of proclamation of Independence of Moldova.
The ceremony began with the singing of the state anthem of Moldova. The awards were handed in to the laureates by Prime Minister, Maia Sandu.
Thus, painter and book graphic artist, Alexei Sainciuc, received the National Prize for artistic work, originality and exceptional contribution to cultivating the aesthetic values of new generations through visual art. Actor, director and writer, Gheorghe Urschi, has received the National Prize for Opera Omnia.
The award also went to violinist Alexandra Conunova – Dumortier, for interpretive performance in universal violinistic musical art and promotion of the image of Moldova worldwide.
For the activity of research and innovation in the field of increasing the productivity and resistance of culture plants through modern and conventional biotechnologies, there were awarded: doctor qualified in biological sciences, Galina Lupascu, research professor, Nadejda Mihnea, doctor qualified in biological sciences, research associate, Larisa Andronic, and doctor in sciences biological, research associate, Svetlana Smerea.
Another award winner is writer, playwright and journalist, Valentin Butnaru, who was appreciated for his original artistic approach and contribution to the development of theatrical field of Moldova. Also, writer Tatiana Tibuleac came in possession of the Prize for the special aesthetic value of the literary work and promotion of the image of Moldova on the European level.
The sculptor and university professor Iurii Canasin was appreciated for his outstanding contribution to developing the art of sculpture in Moldova and promoting universal values.
PM Maia Sandu has congratulated the laureates and wished them success in their activity. "Thank you. I wish you success and health. I also invite our fellow citizens to be inspired by your example, excel, and succeed in appreciating people both materially and in creating conditions for science, culture and art to develop as it deserves to develop. We shall make this effort, but with you,” said PM.
The value of the National Prize is MDL 100,000. It is granted yearly by Government in gratitude for the results obtained in various domains of activity. The winners are selected by secret ballot by a special commission.
