Moldovan PM hands in National Awards for 2019

Chisinau, 26 August /MOLDPRES/ – Ten prominent personalities from different domains: science, technology, culture and art, have been awarded on Monday, 26 August, with the National Prize 2019 in the gala organised on it. The awards have been handed in by Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, which thanked the laureates for their effort and dedication, significant contribution to promoting Moldova worldwide, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

"I should like to thank the citizens of Moldova for your contribution to development of culture and science, promoting the image of Moldova. You, as an intellectual elite, are moral benchmarks for the whole society. From you, the citizens learn the freedom to think, learn how to create, work, be modest and succeed”, said PM.

Also, the head of the Executive has mentioned that it is the duty of state to promote well – known personalities, who represent models worthy to be followed in society. "It is very important to have as many positive models in our country, and the state has a duty to recognise and promote these models. So as to promote true values, not pseudo – values ​​that serve one power or another. I wish very much that from your experience children and young people will be inspired to learn to follow their dreams, passions, even if they know that it is quite difficult to make art, do science in Moldova. You are an example of perseverance, you are an example to follow," said Maia Sandu.

At their turn, the laureates thanked for appreciating their work and mentioned that the National Award represents an honour, but also a great responsibility to the whole society for the results of their activity.

"I think it is an important signal that young people who are trying to do their job well can be noticed when it is not too late, when they can fully enjoy this gratitude. I shall try to extend this joy among book lovers by organising beautiful things to promote reading," said young writer, winner of the National Prize 2019, Tatiana Tibuleac.

"Please, consider that it is a support for our future commitment to involve us in new scientific projects in order to create and implement in economy of Moldova new high – performance biotechnologies, which would ensure Moldovan population with high quality agricultural products," said doctor qualified in biological sciences, with 40 years domain experience, Galina Lupascu.

The National Prize, worth MDL 100,000, is awarded yearly to the citizens of Moldova for outstanding achievements in various fields of activity.
