Former PM to be heard by commission investigating theft of billion

Chisinau, 29 August /MOLDPRES/- Former Prime Minister Vlad Filat will be heard by the Commission of Inquiry on elucidating the circumstances of robbing the banking system. The commission’s head Alexandru Slusari made the statement, by submitting a request to the Ministry of Justice.
The commission submitted a request on the Minister of Justice on hearing of Vlad Filat on 30 August at 10.00 am.
Last week, Slusari said that 23 people have been heard so far in the commission, and the amounts stolen from the three banks exceed one billion US dollars. He added that several people have requested to be heard by the commission, among them are Sorin Stati, former director of MoldAtsa, but the MPs recommended to send the information in writing.
Slusari reiterated that he asked the law enforcement bodies to start the criminal prosecution on Iurie Leancă, Dorin Drăguțan, Andrian Candu and Anatol Arapu.
The state guarantees issued for the three banks were subsequently transformed into state debt.
