Moldovan electoral body set up second level constituency councils

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/- The Central Election Commission (CEC) decided today the establishment of 35 second-level constituency councils for the local elections on October 20, 2019,
According to the law, the councils are made up of an odd number of members, at least 7 and at most 11 people, including at least three persons with higher legal studies or with studies in public administration.
The members of the electoral bodies are to choose from among themselves by secret ballot head, deputy head and secretary. Following this procedure, the councils will make public the information on the place, date and time of receipt of registration documents as a candidate.
At the same time, the CEC has decided that by September 14, the electoral councils will create polling stations, and by September 24, the electoral offices of the polling stations will be set up.
Following the general local election on October 20, 2019, 898 mayors and 11,580 local councilors will be elected.
