Moldovan ex – PM heard by commission investigating theft of billion

Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/ – Former Prime Minister, Vlad Filat, was heard on Friday, 30 August, by the Commission of Inquiry of elucidating the circumstances of devaluation of the banking system. The announcement was made by the head of commission, Alexandru Slusari.
According to quoted source, the former prime minister did not say anything that would change the course of investigation and he said that he did not know that the beneficiary of the additional issue would become Ilan Shor.
Slusari specified that the commission members will come with a report in the legislature at the beginning of the fall session and added that he would insist that all documents examined by the commission be made public.
Last week, Slusari said that 23 persons have been heard so far by the commission, and the amounts stolen from 03 banks exceed $1 billion. He reiterated that he asked the law enforcement bodies to start the criminal prosecution on behalf of Iurie Leanca, Dorin Dragutan, Andrian Candu and Anatol Arapu.
Vlad Filat was detained in October 2015 after the then Attorney General Corneliu Gurin called for his parliamentary immunity to be lifted. The ex – PM was accused of being involved in bank fraud. In summer of 2016, Filat was sentenced to 09 years in prison.
