Chisinau, 30 August /MOLDPRES/ – The national transplant agencies in Romania and Moldova signed on Friday, 30 August, in Bucharest, a Collaboration Agreement based on which there can be exchanged organs for patients on waiting lists who need transplantation. The Ministry of Healthcare of Romania has announced it.
According to cited source, if certain organs cannot be used in Romania, due to lack of compatible receivers, they will be able to reach Moldova and vice versa. Also, in the event of a medical emergency, the two Agencies will try to find solutions to identify a compatible organ for the patient in need of transplantation.
"For us it is very important to find organs for patients who need a transplant. The implementation of the Agreement signed today requires some steps that need to be carefully prepared. Romania has a greater capacity in terms of organ transplantation. That is why, in the future, we hope that some patients from Moldova can be transplanted in Romania”, stated the Minister of Healthcare of Romania, Sorina Pintea.
The collaboration agreement will also involve an exchange of experience between all those involved in the transplant activity, which means the training of staff.
The Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS) and Transplant Agency of Moldova (ATM) have not yet provided details on it.
