Moldovan PM summons meeting to check situation on natural gas supply

Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – Prime Minister, Ion Chicu, has summoned a meeting, on Tuesday, to check situation with supply of natural gas on territory of Moldova, starting with 01 January 2020. Deputy PM, Sergiu Puscuta, Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, Anatol Usatii and management of Moldovagaz, have attended the meeting. the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The manager of Moldovagaz has informed PM that the company has extended the contract with Gazprom, supplying natural gas, for 01 year and assured the Premier that it will not increase the price of gas.

Also, it has been extended a supplement with Gazprom to extend the gas transit contract through territory of Moldova. According to Agreement for operation of interconnection point in Moldova, it will be provided 08 mln m3 daily through measuring station Grebeniky and Alexeevka point – 04 mln m3. If necessary, the volumes can be increased.

Similarly, according to head of Moldovagaz, the alternative scenario of gas supply through reverse is perfectly functional and can be implemented as needed.

In this context, PM has asked deputy PM, Puscuta, Minister of Finance, to notify the EBRD that the Government will not apply the Arrangement regarding the letter of guarantee.

The head of Moldovagaz has assured PM that the company pays gas consumption to Gazprom 100 per cent.

At the end of the meeting, the chief executive congratulated the management and the "Moldovagaz" team on the occasion of the upcoming holidays and also requested that the functionality of the structure be continuously ensured.
