Moldovan president attends ceremony on reburial of 45 Red Army soldiers

Chisinau, 10 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon on 9 May attended a ceremony on reburial of the remains of 45 Red Army soldiers, which took place at the Serpeni Bridgehead memorial complex, eastern Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.
These soldiers died in 1944, in battles for Moldova’s liberation from fascism. The head of state noted that the soldiers’ remains had been discovered by the organizations August and Russian historical and patriotic club, within research actions carried out on lands where dreadful battles took place once.
„Unfortunately, they have not managed to establish the names of the soldiers; yet, we know for sure that they sacrificed their lives for our freedom and for a peaceful sky for which we are everybody happy at present,’’ the Moldovan president said. Also, Igor Dodon voiced gratitude to all those who died in the Great Patriotic War and urged the fellow countrymen to keep alive the memory of the heroic deeds of our ancestors.
The head of state congratulated all those present on the Victory Day, wishing them peace, good health and prosperity.
