Moldovan speaker meets PACE President

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu met President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Rik Daems in Athens, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

The discussions focused on the partnership relations between the Republic of Moldova and PACE, as well as the evolutions in our country.

Igor Grosu thanked for the expertise provided by the Council of Europe in the efforts of the Republic of Moldova to advance the reform of justice and the fight against corruption. In this context, there was talk about the commitment of the new government in Chisinau to clean the state institutions of corruption and to relaunch the country's economy.

"The parliamentary agenda is focused on reforms aimed at the benefit of every citizen and we will fully use the openness and support of the European Union," he said.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the European Conference of Speakers of the member states of the Council of Europe, held in Athens on 21-22 October.
