Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - Discussions on the inclusion of the problems jeopardizing the situation in the Security Zone on the agenda of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) continued at a meeting in Bender. One of the most important issues was the ensuring of the free movement, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

Moldova’s delegation warned that Tiraspol constantly ignored the relevant provisions of the Agreement on the principles of the peaceful settlement of the armed conflict from Moldova’s Transnistrian region, signed on 21 July 1992, as well as other documents of the peacekeeping operation at Dniester.

The Moldovan delegation noted that the illegal ‘’border guard’s’’ posts remain an obstacle to the free movement of citizens. In the last time, Transnistrian structures’ representatives have freely entered the area of responsibility of the Joint Peace keeping Forces, where they resort to illegal detainings and kidnapping of people.

Moldova’s delegation considers that such actions infringe the fundamental human rights and destabilize the situation in the Security Zone and the Joint Control Commission must intervene to cease them.

Yet, the delegations of Russia and the Transnistrian side have a different approach on the issue. They insinuate that this was not within the JCC’s competence. Therefore, the creation of the agenda of the ordinary meeting was blocked.

To consider organizational subjects, an extraordinary meeting was held and the new head of the general staff of the Joint Military Command was confirmed in office.

A new meeting of the Commission was established for the next week.
