Law on ratification of Istanbul Convention published in Official Journal of Moldova

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the law on ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence have been published in today's issue of the Official Journal.
The Convention includes 81 articles with provisions by States Parties to ensure the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence, the protection of victims, the prosecution of criminals and the adoption of integrated policies.
After the ratification of the Convention, the state will allocate resources to ensure the functionality of crisis centers for victims of violence, shelters for victims of violence. Each public authority will analyze, estimate and plan the necessary resources to ensure the implementation of the Convention.
The Republic of Moldova becomes the 35th member state of the Council of Europe (out of 47) to ratify this document, also known as the Istanbul Convention. Countries that have ratified the Convention are committed to ensuring the prevention and combating of violence against women and domestic violence, the protection of victims, the prosecution of criminals and the adoption of integrated policies in this field.
The Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Women and Domestic Violence was signed by the Republic of Moldova on February 6, 2017.
