Moldova, Ukraine to boost bilateral dialogue

Chisinau, 22 October /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu, on a visit to Ukraine, has held discussions on ways of boosting the bilateral contacts in the commercial and economic fields, energy, transport, infrastructure and on the humanitarian dimension, at a meeting with Deputy Minister on European Integration at the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Ihor Yaremenko,  who is the deputy head of the Ukrainian side of the inter-governmental Commission for commercial and economic cooperation.   

According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE), the sides highlighted the importance of fostering the sectoral dialogue; a string of meetings of the Moldovan-Ukrainian working groups are scheduled for the immediate next period. In the context, the working group on the construction of the Cosauti-Yampil road bridge will hold a meeting in the first half of next November, in order to advance this strategic project.      

The officials also agreed on the carrying out of a joint visit to the Dniester Hydro-power Complex in the near future.    

„I spoke out for the soon organization of an ordinary meeting of the inter-governmental commission for economic cooperation. We are set to strengthen the relations between business people from both countries and increase the number of tourists,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.

At the same time, during the meeting, the sides exchanged opinions on the developments regarding the regional security and reiterated the mutual support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and Ukraine within the internationally organized borders.
