Number of children with coronavirus doubled

Chisinau, 25 October /MOLDPRES/- Increased number of children with coronavirus disease is recorded in Moldova.

Chisinau mayor Ion Ceban said today after the meeting of the Extraordinary Municipal Commission of Public Health that lately the number of children with coronavirus disease has increased. "In the Republic of Moldova there was a number of about 21 thousand children who became ill with COVID-19, the figure represents 6.5 percent of all coronavirus patients. Half of them, ie 10,268, are between 12 and 16 years old. It is a doubling of last year's number of illnesses among children ", the quoted source specified.

He said that the municipal authorities are considering the introduction of additional restrictions to prevent the rate of COVID-19 infection among young people. "I am not afraid to introduce restrictions, but I am waiting to see the decisions of the national authorities regarding the prevention of the increased incidence of COVID-19," the same source said.

At the same time, the official noted that he had repeatedly asked the central authorities for the control by the law enforcement institutions of the measures to prevent COVID-19 that had been put in place.
