Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Over 100 kindergartens from Chisinau will temporarily cease working during summer because of repair works. The acting head of the Chisinau municipal council’s education, youth and sport general department, Rodica Gutu, made statements to this effect at a today’s operative meeting of the municipal services.
According to Gutu, the repair works will be carried out on roofs, in kitchens and facades.
“The kindergartens will suspend their activity gradually. Thus, 29 institutions will not work in June, 64 – in July and 13 - in August. These kindergartens will not work for a period of about 40 days. In this way, only 53 institutions from Moldova’s capital will work as normal during summer. Another reason for ceasing the work is the lack human resources in kindergartens, as well as children’s low attendance,” Gutu said.
The education department will decide the period in which each kindergarten will cease its activity, by consulting the institution’s administration and parents and the announcement will be posted by 30 days before. “It is necessary that parents understand that the ceasing is needed, as repair works are carried out,” the acting mayor of Chisinau, Ruslan Codreanu, said.
In the previous years, more parents showed discontent with the closing of kindergartens. Local authorities suggested that the children be temporarily transferred to neighbouring kindergartens on the period when the institutions cease working.
