Chisinau, 7 May /MOLDPRES/ - Persons with disabilities, representatives of ethnic, linguistic, sexual and religious minorities may apply to a probation provided by the United Nations Organization (UNO) starting from today. Everyone interested may submit the files till 20 May and winners will join the UN team in Moldova after the probation is over.

The national coordinator at the Office of the UN High Commissioner in Moldova, Veaceslav Balan, said that the programme’s goal was to stimulate the inclusion and acceptance of people with less chances of professional self-assertion, as well as to encourage as many as possible organizations and institutions to take over the UN’s example, offering similar opportunities.

“We have adjusted the standard requirements for probations at UN and turned them more accessible for this programme. Thus, we do not ask for higher education, as we usually do, as we are aware that this is a condition hard to fulfill for all persons. Instead, we request a motivation letter, in which the person can make reference to the difficulties faced when getting employed or when continuing the education,” Balan noted.

According to Balan, 12 persons will be able to participate in the probation, who will be involved in activities and events of UN entities during 4-6 months.

Thus, the people will get practical experience and will acquire professional competences useful for the subsequent employment, including at the UN.

Twelve young people participated in the first issue of the UN programme of probations for diversity and 14 ones – in the second issue. They said that this experience had changed their lives and stimulated their career. At the same time, seven public and private institutions in 2016 and another 12 ones in 2017 took over this initiative and developed partnerships for equality and diversity at their own  organizations.
