Chisinau, 24 May /MOLDPRES/ – In case of reorganisation or liquidation of enterprises, which implies collective redundancies, employers will need to inform employees and Employment Agency (AOFM) at least 30 calendar days prior to commencement of the proceedings. A draft law in this regard was adopted in a final reading by Parliament today.
Following legislative changes, employers intending to make collective redundancies will be required to inform in writing about closure of the representatives of employees in establishment, indicating reasons and timing of redundancies, number and categories of employees liable to be dismissed and other relevant data. They will send a notice to AOFM containing info on redundancies as well as a copy of notification of the representatives of employees.
The employers will also consult employee representatives on possibilities of avoiding collective redundancies or reducing number of affected employees, as well as mitigating consequences of redundancies by resorting to social support measures such as redistribution or retraining of redundant workers.
