Moldovan deputy premier meets U.S. Ambassador, USAID Mission head

Chisinau, 19 June /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, has had today a meeting with US Ambassador to Moldova, James Pettit, and chief of USAID Mission to Moldova, Karen R. Hilliard, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials discussed recent results of the negotiation format "5+2" held in Rome, as well as the level of implementation of protocol decisions signed in 2018 and in 2017, at the meeting. The dynamics and concrete results of the work of the sectoral working groups, notably the human rights working group, as well as the telecommunication and postal services, have been addressed.
Similarly, within context of discussions, it was unveiled USAID project: My Community, aiming to strengthen local governance to become more effective, transparent and accountable to community members, and to build capacities of local public authorities (APL) to meet the needs of citizens.
The programme's main beneficiaries are supposed to become APL, civic groups and local business community which throughout cooperation will develop communities and improve quality, availability and efficiency of public services across Moldova.
Consequently, project will utilise simple and innovative tools, collaborate with local partners to ensure that citizens are informed about democratic and transparent governmental processes, participate in solving local issues and actively involve marginalised and vulnerable groups in local decision – making.
This project will support local elected representatives and local public authority employees in establishing solid commitment to citizens, and assist the effort to improve delivery of public services as well as electronic, administrative and social ones.
