Moldovan cabinet backs measures to ensure efficient circulation of meal vouchers

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers backs the strengthening of the legal framework for ensuring an efficient circulation of meal vouchers. Today, the government positively notified a draft aimed at improving the process of issuance, providing, acceptance and reimbursement of the value of meal vouchers.

According to the government’s communication and protocol department, the draft establishes a string of clear rules for employees, employers, operators and for trade and public nourishment units, in order to observe the legislation on meal vouchers. Also, the document sees the inclusion of sanctions for allowing infringements in the Contravention Code.

Thus, beneficiaries of meal vouchers or other third persons who sell or transmit the meal vouchers to other people run the risk of being fined with 2,500-5,000 lei. At the same time, if employers decrease salaries, on grounds that they provide meal vouchers, they will be sanctioned with more than 10,000 lei. The same fine is provided also for the repeated putting into circulation of the used, returned or destroyed meal vouchers.   

Enterprises selling tobacco articles of alcoholic drinks against meal vouchers will be fined with up to 15,000 lei. Tougher sanctions, up to 20,000 lei, are seen for the public nourishment units which will change meal vouchers for a sum of money.
