Over 350 pupils participate in contest on creation of Moldovan poet

Chisinau, 09 February /MOLDPRES/ – Over 350 pupils from 27 technical vocational education institutions across Moldova have attended the 8th issue of Festival of Arts: Grigore Vieru – The flower of humanity, the final of which took place today at the Public Library Onisifor Ghibu in Chisinau municipality.
Interviewed by agency, head of the Department of Educational Management at the Centre for Excellence in Energy and Electronics, Aurelia Berdiev, the author and project coordinator, has mentioned that the festival aims to capitalise the creation of poet Grigore Vieru by the students in the technical vocational education institutions.
According to Aurelia Berdiev, the competition takes place on creative sections: song interpretation on the poet's poetry, his own creation in the fields of music, literature and plastic art. The first two samples – song and recital interpretation – are based on the transmitted video. The other two samples – creative workshops – take place on the day of the gala show.
The jury president at the music section, composer Marian Starcea, has said that every issue reveals something new in music, painting and literature. And the president of the jury in the literary creation section, the doctor habilitat in pedagogy, the university lecturer Adrian Ghicov, stressed that he has identified and appreciated authentic literary texts, which announce original poetry.
The prize winners were awarded diplomas, books and ceramic medals with the festival logo, executed by the folk craftsman Vasile Goncear. The student at the Iulia Hasdeu Industrial College of Pedagogy in Cahul, Dana Andoni, who holds the Grand Prix in the plastic art section, said she presented a painting work based on the lyrics of the poet: E o liniste iubirea?
Poet Grigore Vieru was born on 14 February 1935 in village Pererata, Briceni district. He is the author of more well – known lyrics. His works were translated into English, Russian, German, Italian, Bulgarian and other languages. In 1988 he was awarded the Honorary Diploma H. Ch. Andersen. In 1996 he was decorated with the Order of the Republic. In 1990 he was elected Honorary Member of the Romanian Academy, and in 1993 – a corresponding member of the Romanian Academy. He died on 18 January 2009 following a road accident. Grigore Vieru was decorated post – mortem with the Star of Romania National Order in Grade of Big Cross. At present, several Moldovan schools, a boulevard in the capital and a street in Iasi, Romania, bear his name.
