Average monthly wage in economy up by 13.2 percent in 2018

Chisinau, 27 February /MOLDPRES/- Gross monthly average earning was 6446.4 lei in 2018, up by 13.2 percent than in the previous year, and the real earning, adjusted to the consumer price index, increased by 9.9 percent, according to data released today by the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS).
BNS points out that in the fourth quarter, the monthly average earning was 6987.5 lei, up by 14.3 percent against the similar period of 2017. In the budgetary sector, the average monthly salary was 6094.8 lei and in the economy - 7337,3 lei. Statistics show that while there is a difference between salaries in the two sectors, last year their growth in the budgetary sector was higher than in the economic sector, ie 18%, compared to 13%. Following the implementation of the tax reform and the entry into force of the new wage bill in the budgetary sector, the increases will be even higher in 2019, many experts said.
The real earning index for the fourth quarter of 2018 compared to the same period of the previous year (calculated as the ratio between the gross nominal earning and the consumer price index) was 113.2%, or up by 13.2% against the last quarter of the previous year.
