Expert-Grup analytical centre of Moldova says banking crediting records positive growth pace

Chisinau, 4 March /MOLDPRES/ - The banking crediting records a positive growth pace, against a background of decrease in the interest rates and increase in the demand of loans on behalf of private persons. This tendency is fueled particularly by the extension of the monthly volume of new loans provided for the purchasing/construction of real estate or for consumption, an expert of the Expert-Grup Independent Analytical Centre, Dumitru Pintea, has said in an analysis on the banking performance ranking, made public today.

Pintea noted that the pace of the crediting of legal entities was tending to be sped up too, “though, insufficiently to counteract the speed of return of the earlier provided credits.” This situation is explained by the short duration of maturity of this type of loans against the real estate ones, provided to private people, which hinders the extension of the overall stock of credits. In these conditions, in late last January, the stock of credits provided by commercial banks recorded 35.3 billion lei, slightly decreasing by 176 million lei against the month before.

At the same time, the volume of financing provided in Moldovan lei tends to consolidate, reaching a share of 62 per cent of all loans, followed by the one in euros, with a share of about 26 per cent.

According to Expert-Grup, in late January 2019, the financial results reported by banks present a stable situation in the sector. The main financial and prudential indicators register values within the limits or even higher than the ones allowed by the central bank. At the same time, the reserves accumulated and the profit reported maintains the solvency at a higher level, with oscillations from 20 to 62 per cent from one bank to another. Also, the indicators of assets’ quality continues to improve, the rate of bad credits records a level of about12.15 per cent, with oscillations from 4.4 to 31 per cent, depending on the bank.

The ranking continues to be led by banks of systemic importance for the national banking and financial system, and namely Moldova-Agroindbank, followed by Moldindconbank and MobiasBanca. These banks preponderantly excel in terms of profitability and market indexes; the aforementioned banks have about 67 per cent of the profit gained in the concerned sector and 62 per cent of all bank assets.
