Moldovan foreign minister meets new French envoy

Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration met French Ambassador to Moldova Graham Paul. The officials mentioned the need to continue high-level contacts at the same fast pace, the MAEIE press service has reported.
France and Moldova are two close states, and the friendship has been strengthened following the visit to Paris of President Maia Sandu in February and that of Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean Yves Le Drian, whom we hosted in Chisinau in September.
"We reviewed the results of the visit of the experts of the French Development Agency (AFD), carried out on 28 September - 1 October. I referred to the priorities of the Moldovan-French cooperation appreciating the support of the reform agenda achieved with the support of AFD by implementing projects in 3 areas: creation of electrical interconnections and energy efficiency of buildings, irrigation and reforestation, modernization of water supply and sewerage systems ", Popescu said.
At the same time, the Moldovan official welcomed the contribution of Expertise France in taking over the good practices of the French Anticorruption Agency, the head of which undertook a working visit to Chisinau on September 30. These actions contribute to the reform of the judiciary and the fight against corruption.
"I approached the importance of deepening Moldovan-French cooperation in digitalization and transparency of public service by organizing thematic training for officials, as well as developing new areas of cooperation in cybersecurity and energy, economic and infrastructure," Popescu said.
The sides agreed to boost joint actions for the soon signing of the bilateral convention on avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion with respect to taxes on income.
