Chisinau, 05 April /MOLDPRES/ – In case of collective redundancies, after reorganisation or liquidation of the units, employers will be obliged to inform employees and agency of employment at least 30 days before commencement of proceedings. A draft law on it was voted by Parliament in first reading today.
The draft stipulates that employer intending to make collective dismissals will be obliged to inform in writing about closure of representatives of employees in establishment, indicating the reasons and time of dismissals, number and categories of employees liable to be sacked and other relevant info. The employer will send a notice to agency of employment containing info on redundancies and send a copy of notice to representatives of employees.
It will also initiate consultations with representatives of employees on possibilities of avoiding collective dismissals or reducing the number of employees affected, as well as mitigating consequences of redundancies by resorting to social support measures such as redistribution or retraining of redundant workers.
The proposed amendments must be adopted in final reading, so as to become law.
